How does the cleaning and disinfection process of space capsule homestays differ from that of traditional hotel rooms?

Space capsule homestays attract a large number of travelers with their unique living space design, but the relatively closed capsule structure and high-density living environment make their cleaning and disinfection processes significantly different from those of traditional hotel rooms. These differences are due to both spatial characteristics and the difficulties in hygiene management, and targeted cleaning strategies need to be formulated.

The space of space capsule homestays is compact and closed, which brings special challenges to cleaning and disinfection. The internal space of each space capsule is limited, and the beds, storage compartments, control panels and other facilities inside the capsule are compactly arranged, which are easy to hide dirt. Compared with the spacious guest rooms of traditional hotels, space capsule homestays cannot use conventional large-area cleaning methods. For example, traditional hotel rooms can use sweeping robots or large cleaning equipment to quickly complete floor cleaning, while space capsule homestays can only rely on manual use of small cleaning tools to carefully clean corner by corner due to the narrow space. In addition, the materials of the capsule are mostly smooth surfaces such as plastic and metal. Although it is easy to wipe, once there are stains left, it will be more obvious, which puts higher requirements on the meticulousness of cleaning.

The disinfection link is particularly critical in space capsule homestays. Due to the closed nature of the capsule, the air circulation is relatively poor. After a long stay, it is easy for bacteria and viruses to breed in the cabin. Compared with traditional hotel rooms, space capsule homestays need to disinfect the air more frequently and more comprehensively. Traditional hotel rooms are usually disinfected once a day, while space capsule homestays may need to disinfect immediately after each passenger checks out. In terms of disinfection methods, traditional hotels often use disinfectants to wipe the surface of furniture, while space capsule homestays need to use ultraviolet disinfection, ozone disinfection and other methods to deeply sterilize the air and surface of objects in the cabin in addition to surface disinfection. In particular, ultraviolet disinfection can effectively kill germs hidden in corners and crevices, which is a method rarely used in traditional hotel room disinfection.

In the selection and use of cleaning tools, space capsule homestays are also different from traditional hotel rooms. In order to adapt to the small space, space capsule homestays will be equipped with small, portable and multi-functional cleaning tools. For example, use a micro vacuum cleaner to clean dust and debris in the cabin. This vacuum cleaner is small in size and can reach hard-to-reach areas such as under the bed and storage compartment gaps. For cleaning the surface of the capsule, a soft microfiber cloth is used to avoid scratching the capsule material. Traditional hotel rooms tend to use large cleaning equipment, such as floor scrubbers and carpet cleaners, to improve cleaning efficiency due to their large space. The difference in cleaning tools reflects the differences in the spatial structure and cleaning needs of the two types of accommodation.

Cleaning and disinfection of high-frequency contact areas for passengers is the focus of space capsule homestays. In space capsules, passenger contact frequencies are extremely high in areas such as door switches, control panel buttons, and bedside lamp switches, which are easily a medium for the spread of germs. Therefore, these areas require more frequent and detailed cleaning and disinfection. In contrast, although traditional hotel rooms also clean high-frequency contact areas such as door handles and switches, the contact frequency of these areas is relatively low due to the large space of the guest rooms and the dispersed range of passenger activities. Space capsule homestays usually use disinfectant wipes to wipe high-frequency contact areas multiple times before and after each passenger uses them, and regularly use disinfectants for deep disinfection to ensure passenger contact safety.

The cleaning and disinfection of public areas of space capsule homestays is also unique. Although each space capsule is an independent living unit, public areas such as washrooms and rest areas still need to be used by all travelers. The cleaning and disinfection of these public areas must ensure both sanitation and safety and the convenience of travelers. Compared with traditional hotels, the public areas of space capsule B&Bs are relatively small, but they are used more frequently, so the frequency of cleaning and disinfection is also increased accordingly. In the washroom, in addition to routine cleaning, special attention should be paid to drains, mirrors and other parts that are prone to residual water stains and dirt; in the rest area, garbage left by travelers should be cleaned up in time, and tables, chairs, sofas, etc. should be disinfected to ensure that public areas are always clean and tidy.

In terms of recording and supervision of cleaning and disinfection, space capsule B&Bs need to establish a stricter management mechanism. Since the hygiene of space capsule B&Bs is directly related to the health and experience of travelers, detailed records of each cleaning and disinfection process must be kept, including cleaning time, type of disinfectant used, name of cleaning staff and other information. At the same time, it is also necessary to strengthen daily supervision and inspection, and regularly conduct sampling and testing of cleaning and disinfection effects to ensure that cleaning and disinfection work is implemented in place. Traditional hotel rooms have relatively mature management systems, and although they also have requirements for cleaning and disinfection records and supervision, due to the large number of rooms, the frequency and level of inspection may not be comparable to those of space capsule B&Bs.

The cleaning and disinfection process of space capsule B&Bs is different from that of traditional hotel rooms in many aspects due to factors such as spatial characteristics and hygiene requirements. From cleaning methods to disinfection methods, from tool selection to regional focus, special processes and standards need to be formulated according to their own characteristics. Only in this way can we ensure that space capsule B&Bs can provide a unique accommodation experience while creating a safe, hygienic and comfortable living environment for travelers.
